It's not only for tire changing but also for balancing. When changing the tire, the axle adapter is inserted into the negative of the rim. This ensures that it's securely and cleanly fixed on the 20 mm shaft of the tire mounting device.
After the tire has been changed, the wheel needs to be balanced. The axle adapter fits the MAX2H balancing stand. Just like when changing the tire, the adapter is inserted into the rim and then fixed on the balancing shaft to perform static balancing.
