Adhesive weights for balancing
Tires and wheels don't always have the same weight distribution all around. To ensure your steering wheel doesn't wobble or shake while driving, you need adhesive weights to eliminate this imbalance, allowing the wheels to run smoothly and steadily.
What do I need for balancing?
For home use, a static balancer is suitable. It's relatively inexpensive and gets the job done just as well as a large balancing machine in a workshop. With static balancing, the wheel is clamped onto a shaft using two cones, which is then placed on two arms supported by bearings. You can easily move the wheel by hand. If the wheel remains still in every position you stop it, then there is no imbalance. However, if the wheel continues moving in certain spots, you need to take action. The heavier part of your wheel is always at the bottom, so you need to attach adhesive weights at the top to balance it.
This process is relatively simple: just remove a 5 gram piece from the 12-piece strip and stick it to the inner side of the rim. Repeat the process again. If the wheel still doesn't remain stationary in every position, then add more adhesive weights.
